PulsePoint Description

PulsePoint is a new app that connects to the College Park 911 system and alerts CPR-trained citizens to someone within the local area who might be experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest. PulsePoint can further direct these app users to the nearest AED (Defibrillation Device) available.

College Park City Staffers Ed Northern and Michelle Johnson played an important role in the production of this short film; they dutifully serve our city in the following capacities: Northern - College Park Fire Rescue; Johnson - College Park Tumbleweeds

College Park Launches PulsePoint - First City in Georgia To Provide Life-Saving App!

College Park's Fire/Rescue Unit presents PulsePoint, a new life-saving app that alerts CPR-trained smartphone users that someone nearby is experiencing cardiac arrest. College Park is the first city in Georgia to have adopted this technology. The official press conference is set for Thursday, Dec. 3 at 10:00 am, inside the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC) in College Park.

College Park's PulsePoint app works in conjunction with its 911 services, notifying CPR-trained individuals that an individual locally is cardiac arrest, as opposed to other emergencies.

College Park launched PulsePoint over the Thanksgiving holiday, becoming the first city in the state of Georgia to put the app to use.

Thursday's official press conference includes College Park’s Fire/Rescue Chief Wade Elmore, Ron Taylor – Project Manager for PulsePoint, and College Park’s CPR Training Director. Mayor Jack P. Longino is expected to attend, as well as local companies, citizens and city staff.

As part of the rollout, College Park Communications developed an ad campaign featuring a locally produced short film, (see link below) banners - to be posted at various locations around town and an updated website. For more information about PulsePoint, go to www.PulsePoint.org.
